Welcome to the Vale of York Stages Rally 2024

The Vale of York Stages returns on 8th September 2024 with the same experienced team as last year.  We are delighted to have the support of Blaxton Automotive in 2024. The motor engineering workshop at Misson Mill is the business run by enthusiastic Lindholme MSC member and MG Midget racer Ian Wright.

Melbourne former airfield is well known in motor sport circles – for rallies, the drag strip, and TI Rally School. The organisers of all three rallies at Melbourne have expended considerable efforts in recent years to effect road resurfacing for rally use.

A continuing Development Plan will fund ongoing repairs and track improvements, with support from the Motorsport UK Club Development scheme. It is not the intention to create some kind of racing track: this would be prohibitively expensive, and would rob the site of its innate character as a rally venue. Having said that, much of Melbourne now does have very good surfaces, which facilitate a high speed challenge. This helps to explain the requirement to run “tarmac” tyres – which most competitors have favoured in the past anyway.

The Vale of York Stages Rally will continue to be the third of the year’s rallies on Melbourne – the others being Trackrod’s Lookout Stages, and North Humberside’s John Overend Memorial Stages. To encourage competitors to engage with rallies at this venue, there is a Melbourne Challenge covering all three events.

The VoYSR team hopes that the rally will build on the strengths of its predecessors, and give competitors an outstanding day’s sport in early September. Supplementary Regulations will be published on Sunday 14th July.
